Kitchen Sink Installation
Farmhouse, Undermount and Workstation
Installing a new kitchen sink during a remodel or upgrade? Our plumbers set farmhouse, undermount, drop-in and workstation sinks and connect the drains, disposal and dishwasher correctly.
Kitchen Sink Installation With Drains and Appliances Connected Right
A kitchen sink is the busiest plumbing fixture in most homes, and it rarely works alone. Beneath it sits a drain system that may serve two bowls, a garbage disposal and a dishwasher, plus supply lines for the faucet, a filtered water tap or an ice maker. Installing a new kitchen sink means planning how all of these connect, so water drains quickly, nothing leaks and every appliance has the clearance it needs inside the cabinet.
Sink design shapes that plan. Single-bowl sinks offer room for large pans, while double-bowl sinks separate washing and rinsing. Workstation sinks include ledges for cutting boards and colanders. Rear or offset drains free up cabinet space for storage or a disposal. Our plumbers lay out the continuous waste, trap and appliance connections to match your sink’s drain positions, keeping slopes correct and making future maintenance, cleaning and any repairs straightforward.

What Installing a Farmhouse Sink Really Involves
Farmhouse or apron-front sinks are stunning, but they’re among the most demanding kitchen sinks to install. Fireclay and cast iron models can weigh well over a hundred pounds before they’re filled with water and dishes. Standard sink base cabinets aren’t built to carry that load, so a support frame or reinforced platform is typically built inside the cabinet. The front of the cabinet is often cut down to accommodate the exposed apron.
Precision matters too. The sink must sit perfectly level and at the right height relative to the countertop, whether it’s undermounted or flush with the counter edge. Because fireclay sinks vary slightly in size, measurements should be taken from the actual sink before the countertop is cut. We coordinate closely with your cabinet installer and fabricator so the support, cutout and plumbing all line up before the countertop is set.
Why Homeowners Choose Our Kitchen Sink Installs
We plan kitchen sink installations around how you actually cook and clean. Our licensed and insured plumbers confirm cabinet support, drain positions and appliance clearances before the sink is set and coordinate with your fabricator on cutouts. Disposals and dishwashers are connected to code, drains are sloped correctly and traps are accessible. We test every bowl, appliance and connection under real use, and we protect your new countertops throughout the job.

Benefits of Professional Kitchen Sink Installation
Professional installation gives your new kitchen sink solid support that won’t sag or separate from the countertop. Correctly planned drains and continuous waste piping keep water moving and prevent clogs between bowls. Proper disposal and dishwasher connections prevent backups and leaks. Accurate coordination with fabricators avoids costly and time-consuming countertop recuts. And a tested, leak-free installation protects the new cabinets and flooring you’ve invested in throughout your kitchen remodel or upgrade project.
Kitchen Sink Installation in CA, TX and FL
Our plumbers install kitchen sinks for homeowners, remodelers, builders and designers throughout California, Texas and Florida, including farmhouse, undermount and workstation sinks in both modern and traditional kitchens of every size.
Dishwasher Air Gap or High Loop?
When a new kitchen sink is installed, the dishwasher drain must be connected in a way that prevents dirty sink water from flowing back into the dishwasher.
An air gap is a small fitting mounted on the sink or countertop. The dishwasher drains up into it and then down to the disposal or drain, with an air break between that physically stops backflow. Some jurisdictions, including California, generally require an air gap for dishwashers.
A high loop routes the drain hose up to the underside of the countertop before it drops to the drain connection. Some areas accept a high loop instead of an air gap. We follow your local code and the dishwasher manufacturer’s instructions when connecting the drain to your new sink.
How Our Kitchen Sink Installation Works
We review your sink, countertop and cabinet plans, confirming dimensions, drain positions, faucet holes and appliance needs well before installation day.
For undermount and farmhouse sinks, we coordinate support and cutouts with your cabinet installer and fabricator. On installation day, the sink is set, leveled and secured. The faucet, strainers and disposal flange are installed, and the drain layout is assembled with properly sloped continuous waste and trap.
Supply lines are connected, and the disposal and dishwasher drain are hooked up with the required air gap or high loop. We fill each bowl, run the disposal and a dishwasher drain cycle where possible and check every connection carefully for leaks before cleaning up.

Kitchen Sink Installation Questions Answered
Do farmhouse sinks need special cabinets?
They need a cabinet designed or modified for an apron-front sink, usually with a reinforced support frame to carry the sink’s weight.
Can existing counters take an undermount sink?
It depends on the countertop material and cutout. Solid surfaces like granite or quartz can work, but the cutout edge must be finished properly.
Is an air gap required for my dishwasher?
Some jurisdictions, including California, generally require one. Other areas may allow a high loop. We follow your local code requirements.
How long does kitchen sink installation take?
Many installations take three to five hours. Farmhouse sinks and undermount installations may need additional time for support and adhesive curing.
Single or double bowl, which is better?
Single bowls handle large pans easily, while double bowls separate tasks. Your cooking habits and dishwasher use usually guide the choice.
