Trenchless Repair

Trenchless Sewer Repair
Fix Pipes Without Digging Trenches

Need your sewer line fixed but dread losing the lawn, driveway or patio? Our trenchless sewer repair restores damaged pipe from the inside through existing cleanouts or small access points.

No-Dig Repair

Trenchless Sewer Repair That Protects Your Yard and Hardscape

Traditional sewer repair means digging a trench along the damaged pipe, which can destroy landscaping, sidewalks, driveways, patios and even interior floors. Trenchless repair takes a different approach. Working through a cleanout or a small access pit, our technicians insert repair materials into the existing pipe and bond them in place, creating a new, smooth, jointless surface inside the old line. The damaged pipe becomes a host for the new one.

Several trenchless options fit different situations. A sectional point repair covers a single crack, hole or leaking joint with a short structural sleeve. Full-length lining creates a new pipe within the entire run, sealing every joint and crack in one installation. Lateral reinstatement restores branch connections after lining. Our plumbers select the method based on camera findings, the pipe material and diameter, the number of defects and the condition of the line’s overall shape.

Good Candidates

Is Your Sewer Line a Candidate for Trenchless Repair?

Trenchless repair works when the existing pipe still provides a path for the repair materials and holds a mostly round shape. Cracked clay, root-damaged joints, leaking connections, pinholes and corroded cast iron with its structure intact are often excellent candidates. The line must also be accessible through a cleanout or a small pit, and the pipe diameter must suit the available liner sizes. Most residential laterals in reasonable shape meet these conditions.

Some conditions rule trenchless repair out or require a combined approach. A fully collapsed section blocks the liner. Severe bellies remain after lining, since the liner follows the old pipe’s path. Badly offset joints may prevent the liner from passing or leave a ridge. In those cases, a small excavation can fix the problem area while lining handles the rest. The camera inspection shows us which combination will give you a durable result at the lowest overall disruption.

Benefits of Trenchless Sewer Repair

Trenchless repair saves your landscaping, driveway, patio and floors from excavation damage, often avoiding costly restoration. Most repairs are completed in a day or two with minimal disruption. Lining creates a smooth, jointless surface that resists root intrusion and improves flow. The new liner is also highly resistant to corrosion. And because the old pipe stays in place, there’s far less noise, mess and disturbance to neighbors, tenants and daily routines.

Why Cleaning Comes Before Trenchless Repair

A trenchless repair is only as good as the surface it bonds to. Thorough preparation is one of the most important steps in the process.

Roots, grease, scale and debris all prevent a liner or patch from bonding tightly to the host pipe. Cast iron lines often have thick tuberculation that must be removed with specialized descaling tools. Clay lines need roots cut back flush with the pipe wall. Hydro jetting then washes away the remaining residue.

After cleaning, we send the camera back through to verify the line is clean and to measure each defect for accurate liner sizing. Skipping or rushing preparation can leave wrinkles, gaps or poor adhesion that shorten the repair’s life. We never shortcut this stage, because it determines how long the repair will last.

How Our Trenchless Sewer Repair Works

We inspect the line with a camera, record its condition and determine whether trenchless repair is suitable for each defect found.

You’ll receive a proposal describing the repair method, access points, preparation steps and cost. On repair day, the line is cleaned, descaled and jetted, then reinspected and measured. The liner or patch material is prepared to the exact length and wetted out with resin before installation.

The repair material is inserted, positioned at the defect or along the full run and cured in place. Branch connections are reopened where needed. A final camera inspection confirms a smooth, sealed result, and you’ll receive the recorded video. Drains can usually be used again the same day.

A properly installed liner has no joints for roots to enter, which makes it highly resistant to root intrusion compared with jointed pipe.

Usually, yes. Most trenchless repairs cure within hours, and drains can typically be used once the final inspection is completed.

No. A collapsed section must be excavated or burst. Lining can then repair the remaining portions of the line if they’re suitable.
